Title Research: Irréversible

 

1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequence?  

In the opening sequence, music credits, poster credits, costumes, décor, direction, production, FX makeup, and interpretation are used to give credits to those who worked in the movie or on the movie when it comes to acting, music, costumes, production etc.  

2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? 

This film doesn't consist of images, instead it consists of flashing words presented at a faster speed and words (titles) filling the screen.  

 

How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? 

The film is silent in the beginning seconds and then a haunting tune comes on during flashing, large titles being quickly edited on screen. A mysterious image is shown with an old and creepy look which adds to the ominous sense of the film. A sense of tension is shown as the credits roll and begin to turn sideways as well as the title in which some letters are flipped backwards relating to the film's title, Irréversible.
