In the title sequence for the film, ‘Silent Hill,’ there are many titles provided to those working on the film. Directed by, written by, produced by, executive produced by, executive producers, producer, director of photography, production designer, editor, music by, based on the game by, creature designer and supervisor, costume designer, and casting are all the titles used in the opening sequence of this survival horror film.  

 

2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? 

This film provides worn down pictures of actors in the film, scary figures, creatures, an old television, what looks like prison bars, zombies, handprints, and newspapers to convey the scary genre.  

 

3. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? 

Silent Hills genre is survival horror and throughout the opening sequence there are many factors that establish the genre through pictures, music, and editing. As zombies are associated with the feeling of survival, there are scenes and pictures of them relating to scary editing with flashing lights and a black and white color filter over the opening sequence. The actors are shown with torn clothing and again flashing lights are portrayed with an overall dim lighting.
